Accessing some Commission web services requires EU Login authentication. The login method is two-factor authentication, which means that, in addition to the password, the user must use a second factor. EU Login authentication is used e.g. when logging in to TRACES.

From 30 June 2025, it is no longer possible to use SMS as the second factor. Before that, it was possible to send the user a password by SMS to their mobile phone number for EU Login authentication.

Authentication from 30 June 2025

You can authenticate into EU Login e.g. by downloading the EU Login mobile app for two-factor authentication. Check the EU Login User Guide for more information about the other authentication alternatives.

If you are already using the mobile app for logging in, there will be no changes in the authentication.
