Messages according to the ITU message descriptions for import can no longer be used

Customs no longer accepts messages according to the ITU message descriptions for import after 31 March 2023. 

In 2023, it has been possible to use messages according to the ITU message descriptions for submitting new import declarations only in exceptional circumstances. From now on, message exchange customers can only submit import declarations with messages in the new format to the Customs Clearance System. See the current message descriptions on the Customs website.

The processing of declarations will be completed with old messages

If a declaration was submitted using messages according to the ITU message descriptions before 1 April 2023, the processing of the declaration will be completed during April using messages in the old format. For example, if the processing of your declaration is not complete at the turn of the month due to a request for additional information, reply to the request using messages according to the ITU message descriptions.

The Import Declaration Service (ITU) was discontinued on 5 November 2022, but declarations submitted earlier via the service can still be browsed in the e-service.
