Application of the Deforestation Regulation delayed another year
The implementation of the Deforestation Regulation has been postponed by 12 months. This means that the regulation will apply from 30 December 2026. Micro and small businesses will start to comply with the regulation six months later, on 30 June 2027.

Customs has compiled current and useful information on the Deforestation Regulation on a new webpage.
Please note that the website will be updated further during 2026, when we receive additional instructions from the European Commission about the application of the Deforestation Regulation. Instructions for customs declarations will also be published on the website next year.
What is the Deforestation Regulation?
The main objective of the Deforestation Regulation is to reduce global deforestation caused by the production of raw materials. It affects the import, export, and trade of many products. The Regulation concerns wood, meat of cattle and other parts of cattle, coffee, cocoa, soy, oil palm and rubber and products made from them.
