Importer: check if your Business ID is also an EORI number and be prepared that the EORI number application service may be busy
An EORI number must be provided as the identification number in all import declarations. The importer, i.e. the declarant, must have an EORI number. This also applies to the representative (if any), if the representative is a business, an organisation, a State or a municipality with a Business ID. If the Business ID doesn’t have the EORI status, the import declaration will be rejected from 2 September 2023. The goods can’t be cleared by Customs until the importer has a valid EORI number.
Check if your Business ID is also an EORI number and apply for an EORI number if required
The identification number of a company established in Finland has the format “FI + Business ID”, e.g. FI1234567-8. Check if Customs already has registered your company’s Business ID as an EORI number. You can check the validity of the company’s EORI number in the Commission’s EORI number validation service.
If your company doesn’t have an EORI number, apply for it via Customs’ EORI number application service. Suomi.fi identification is used when logging in to the service. Customs processes EORI applications from Monday to Friday, 8.00–16.15. The applications will be processed as soon as possible. The service may occasionally be busy.
