Meet Customs at the Matka Travel Fair 19–21 Jan 2024
Customs is again participating in the Travel Fair, which takes place at Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre in January. Come and enjoy the atmosphere, ask about bringing in goods from your trip, pat a customs dog or just have a chat with our experts. The relevant theme for this year is how to prevent the African swine fever – at our stand; we will tell you what you as a traveller can do to prevent the spread of animal diseases.
Travel, see and experience – but also find out what you can bring with you from your trip
What snacks can I bring with me on the trip? Can I bring in a seashell as a souvenir? How much of that local wine can I bring in? What about when I return to Finland with my pet? When going on a trip it is good to remember that many goods are restricted. Find out the rules in good time in advance, so that you trip goes as smoothly as possible. Customs’ instructions for travellers are available on our website: tulli.fi/travellers
Come bravely and have a chat with our experts at the Travel Fair. At our stand, you can ask about things that occupy your mind when it comes to travelling and bringing in goods.
As a traveller, you can prevent the spread of African swine fever
African swine fever is a disease that kills pigs and wild boars, and it appears in the neighbouring countries Russia, Estonia and now in Sweden as well. The disease can spread from a country to another, e.g. in meat products brought in by travellers. That is why every traveller, who arrives from abroad, has an important role when it comes to preventing the disease from spreading.
At our stand at the Travel Fair, you can see e.g. foodstuffs that cannot be brought in and test your knowledge of the topic with our quiz. At the Travel Fair, you can also meet one of Customs’ food detection dogs – the food detection dogs do significant work at border crossing points to combat African swine fever.
At the Travel Fair, you can find our stand 6n58. See you there!
You can meet our customs dogs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from around 12pm.
(Please note that the times may change depending on the dogs’ assignments.)
