Providing the previous document

The previous document is provided based on the customs clearance or control documents concerning the goods. This detail is mandatory.

The codes for previous document are listed in code list 0006. After the code, the reference number of the previous document as well any additional information related to it must also be provided.

If the previous function is a temporary storage facility in a port or an airport, the previous document is the document with which the goods arrived at the temporary storage facility.

Transit

If the function preceding exit is transit, the previous document shall be provided in the exit declaration as follows:

  • code: 1701
  • number: MRN of the transit declaration.

Entry summary declaration (ICS2)

If the function preceding exit is an entry summary declaration submitted to the Commission’s system, the previous document shall be provided in the exit declaration as follows:

  • code: 1703
  • number: the MRN of the entry summary declaration (format 23nnnnnnnnnnnnnATn)
  • additional information: goods item number
  • transport document reference.

If one MRN of a previous entry summary declaration covers several transport documents or goods items, each transport document and goods item must be entered separately. For example, MRN items 1–100 cannot be declared for one goods item.

Entry summary declaration (IE315, AREX)

If the function preceding exit is an entry summary declaration, the previous document shall be provided in the exit declaration as follows:

  • code: 1702
  • number: the MRN of the entry summary declaration (format 23FInnnnnnnnnnnnIn)
  • additional information: goods item number

If one MRN of a previous summary declaration covers several goods items, each goods item must be entered separately, i.e. the code for previous procedure, MRN and goods item number. For example, MRN items 1–100 cannot be declared for one goods item.

Temporary storage declaration (FI335, FI337, UTU)

If the function preceding exit is a temporary storage declaration, the previous document shall be provided in the exit declaration as follows:

  • code: 1704
  • number: the MRN of the temporary storage declaration (format 23FIEnnnnnnnnnnnUn)
  • additional information: goods item number
  • transport document reference.

No previous declaration

If the exit summary declaration is not preceded by any of the above declarations, some other previous document code from the code list 0006 must be provided.
