The accessibility of the service
Current accessibility of the content of the service: partly meets the requirements laid down in the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services.
The known problems with accessibility
The service still has some usability problems. The recognised problems with accessibility are described below. If you notice a problem in the service that is not included in the list, please contact us.
The following content does not meet the requirements laid down in the Act on the Provision of Digital Services and will be fixed as soon as possible:
- Text alternatives
- Some alt-texts of the images are incorrectly marked. Some of the alt-texts are not related to the images. In addition, some images have been marked as decorative, but they have been wrongly marked. (WCAG 1.1.1)
- Placing of videos
- The videos have been placed in a table that the screen reader reads in an illogical order. The screen reader also reads empty table cells between the videos. The table structure also disturbs the scalability of the page. (WCAG 1.3.1)
- Contrasts
- There are flaws in the contrasts between the text and the background especially concerning the side navigation, breadcrumb trail and the links to the main content. In addition, the links to the main content do not differ enough from the surrounding text. (WCAG 1.4.1 and 1.4.3)
- Headings
- The service has texts that look like headings without having been programmatically marked as headings. (WCAG 1.3.1)
- Text content
- In the text-format instructions, there are some flaws concerning the descriptions of functions, since some of the instructions are based only on sensory instructions. (WCAG 1.3.3)
- There are tables in the service without table header entries, in which case their interpretation is incomplete with the help of a screen reader. (WCAG 1.3.1)
- Links
- Information about links opening to a new tab is not communicated to the screen readers. (WCAG 1.1.1)
- The service contains some non-descriptive link texts. For example, the breadcrumb trail has a link that is poorly named. (WCAG 2.4.4)
- Top menu
- Incorrect attributes have been used when creating the top menu, so the screen reader may receive partially incorrect information about the contents of the top menu. (WCAG 4.1.2)
- When the top menu is collapsed into a hamburger menu, it does not work as it should, since it always stays open. However, the screen reader says incorrectly that the menu is closed. (WCAG 4.1.2)
- Side navigation
- The side navigation has submenus that are incorrectly executed. Not all buttons in the submenus have been named. In addition, the submenus are only found in the side navigation once the related link is activated and the cursor has been moved to the top of the page. Reaching and detecting the submenus is difficult without a mouse. (WCAG 2.4.4 and 4.1.2)
- The side navigation is not consistent on every page, as sometimes only the submenu items are displayed in the side navigation. (WCAG 3.2.3)
- Pdf files
- The service contains the pdf file ‘General and specific provisions,’ which is an uncoded file. The pdf file of the Combined Nomenclature CN is incomplete regarding the semantic markings. (WCAG 1.3.1, 1.3.2, 2.4.1, 2.4.3 and 3.1.1)
- Videos
- The service contains videos that do not comply with the accessibility requirements. However, all the videos in the service were published before September of 2020; therefore, the accessibility requirements do not concern them.
