Bringing snus back from your journey

The concise instructions on this page are meant to answer only the most frequently asked questions. Be sure to consult detailed instructions as well.

Persons under the age of 18 are not allowed to bring snus to Finland.

How much snus can I bring to Finland?

During one calendar day, you can bring in a total of 1 000 grams, or 1 kilogram of

  • snus
  • nasal tobacco
  • chewing tobacco.

You can bring in for example 800 grams of snus and 200 grams of nasal snus at one time.

You can bring in snus, nasal snus and chewing tobacco only for your personal use. You are not allowed to bring in these products for your family or as gifts.

The same instructions apply regardless of whether you bring in products from within the EU or from outside the EU.

Note that ordering snus on the Internet is prohibited. Have a closer look at the restrictions on ordering products online.

Nicotine pouches

You can bring nicotine pouches to Finland from your travels. Nicotine pouches are not currently classified as a medicinal substance. Read more about the topic in our customer notice of 4 April 2023.

Yes, you can bring in maximum quantities of these products at the same time.

However, note that you can bring in snus products only for personal use, not for your family or as a gift.
