Suomi.fi messages for individuals
Suomi.fi Messages is a service through which authorities can send messages to citizens electronically. By using Suomi.fi Messages, you receive electronic notifications via the service of documents sent by Customs.
How to start using Suomi.fi Messages
If you are not yet using Suomi.fi Messages, you will be instructed to start using them when you log in to Customs' e-service. Deploying Suomi.fi Messages requires your own actions, and does not happen without you noticing.
Also give your consent to receiving electronic notifications
To receive Customs' messages in the Suomi.fi service, you must also give Customs your consent for electronic notice. In the case of the Import Declaration Service for private persons and the Authorisations and Decisions Service, you must give your consent again each time you use the service.
When you give your consent to electronic notice and use Suomi.fi Messages, information about new documents from Customs will be delivered to you via Suomi.fi Messages. When you have given your consent for electronic notice but have disabled Suomi.fi Messages, you will receive notifications of new documents by email. If you do not consent to receiving electronic notifications, you will receive the documents sent by Customs by post. However, please note that the processing of your declaration will be slower by post. Posti or some other transport company may return the parcel back to the sender if it’s not cleared by Customs in time.
What can Suomi.fi Messages sent by Customs contain?
The message sent by Customs can be, for example, information about a document, such as a decision or a request for amendment or for additional information.
Please note that the use of Suomi.fi Messages concerns you and your personal use of the e-service, not acting on behalf of a company or another person.
You can receive Suomi.fi messages for the following e-services of Customs:
- Import Declaration Service for private persons (customs clearance)
- Customs Clearance Service (customs clearance)
- Authorisations and Decisions Service (available in Finnish and Swedish, e.g. exceptional permits for removal goods).
View the documents directly in Customs’ service
The documents (e.g. decisions or amendment requests or requests for additional information) are not shown in the Suomi.fi message or in the email sent by Customs.
View the documents in the e-service you use, such as the Import Declaration Service for private persons.
