The cooperation between the Police, the Customs and the Finnish Border Guard responds to the challenges of the changing operational environment

The aim of the PCB-cooperation between the Police, the Customs and the Finnish Border Guard is to prevent especially organised cross-border crime. The good collaboration has during the years formed into a form of cooperation that is highly valued both nationally and internationally. This cooperation is also employed in responding to the challenges and new phenomena of the changed operational environment.

The aim of the PCB-cooperation between the Police, the Customs and the Finnish Border Guard is to enhance security and to promote the realisation of criminal responsibility. All three authorities have the powers in cross-border crime prevention. The duties of the Customs concern so-called customs contraventions, whereas the duties of the Finnish Border Guard involve people crossing the border. The Police, on the other hand, has the opportunity to combat all kinds of crimes.  The cooperation promotes safety in a flexible, quick and effective manner.

The cooperation also enables a quick response to new phenomena. The changed operational environment and technological development, for instance, has led to new forms of cross-border crimes. The authorities’ ability to respond to these challenges play a key role during changes.
