You can now receive messages on customs clearance in the Suomi.fi Messages service
As of October, our private customers can receive messages in the Suomi.fi Messages service. Customs clearance will be faster and more ecological when there is less mail, and you can receive messages from Customs directly to your phone.
Customs has deployed Suomi.fi messages in customer interactions on 5 October 2024. This means that, in the future, citizens can receive messages concerning commenced customs clearances to the joint public administration portal Suomi.fi instead of mail or email.
– Thanks to Suomi.fimessages, transactions are safer, faster and more ecological, as there is less need for conventional mail, says Minna Gustafsson, Head of Customer Services.
In addition to starting the use of Suomi.fi messages, customers are required to consent to receiving electronic notifications in connection with customs clearance.
– If a customer has started using Suomi.fi messages but does not consent to electronic notifications, Customs will send messages by mail, says Mina Gustafsson.
Conventional mail may slow customs clearance down surprisingly much.
– Transport companies may return packages to senders if they have not received on customs clearance early enough, says Minna Gustafsson.
Messages from Customs as notifications to your phone
You can receive notifications on Suomi.fi messages directly to your iPhone when you download the Suomi.fi mobile service. A message from Customs may concern for example an amendment request, a request for additional information, or a decision.
– When you start using Suomi.fi messages, a further advantage is that customers also receive messages from other authorities to the same place, says Gustafsson.
You can start using Suomi.fi messages in the Suomi.fi portal under Messages. You can read messages by identifying yourself in the Suomi.fi web portal or mobile application with your online banking ID, certificate card or mobile certificate.
Instructions on using the Suomi.fi portal are available at the Public Service Info.
