Press release

The Commission has published the default values for the transitional period. They can be used for the first three reporting periods (1 October 2023–30 June 2024) when reporting emissions data. You can find the default values in the file ”Default values transitional period” on the Commission’s CBAM website. The Commission has also supplemented the Guidance documents for importers and non-EU operators.

On our Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism web page, you can find detailed instructions for logging into the Transitional Registry (”How to log into the CBAM Transitional Registry”).

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a new EU instrument for preventing carbon leakage, that is, release of emissions to non-EU countries. For importers, this brings new obligations.
