Sami Rakshit is the new Director General of Finnish Customs
The Finnish Government has appointed Sami Rakshit, Bachelor of Laws, as Director General of Finnish Customs for the following five-year term beginning on 1 May 2024.
Sami Rakshit has long-term experience of Finnish Customs over several decades. Currently he acts as Director of the Enforcement Department at Customs.
“I greatly appreciate the trust I have gained and the opportunity to develop Customs together with our highly committed personnel. At Customs, we have always invested in smooth cooperation with interest groups both nationally and internationally,” emphasises Rakshit.
“In the current changed operating environment, I feel that close cooperation between Customs and other authorities as well as the private sector is even more important. I hope that this cooperation will continue seamlessly also in the future,” says Rakshit.
The Government decided on the appointment on 4 April 2024. The term of office of the Director General runs from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2029.
