Portnet to be updated on 10 January 2023 – a new notification form will be introduced

According to a preliminary plan, Portnet will be updated on 10 January 2023 in accordance with the PRF Directive (EU 2019/883). In the updated version, the waste codes in accordance with Annex 2 to the Directive, i.e. the advance notification form, is used for saving the waste notification. The new form will replace the form ”1003e - NSW Waste”.

The new waste notification form will be available on the Finnish Customs website, on the page Sea traffic forms.

After the update, Portnet will generate a waste receipt in accordance with Annex 3 to the Directive after the arrival of the ship at the port. The ship’s agent can send the receipt in PDF format to the master of the ship.

The Act on Environmental Protection in Maritime Transport requires that, from the beginning of 2023, ships that have an exemption certificate and that have been exempted from submitting a waste notification, must submit waste delivery receipts to the Portnet system (Chapter 10, section 5). The receipts can be uploaded to the Portnet system under “IMO-FAL declarations” by choosing “Waste receipt” in the drop-down menu.
