I am moving abroad

When you move abroad from Finland, you should find out the regulations in the country to which you are moving. You should find out if your removal goods include items that you are not allowed to import, and how the declare the goods in your country of destination. Finnish Customs does not have information about the import restrictions and customs practices of other countries.

Note that taking certain items abroad from Finland is prohibited or subject to restrictions. If your removal goods include items subject to restrictions, Customs may ask you to present them along with any related permits.

Moving from Finland to a non-EU country, or to EU territory but outside the EU fiscal territory

Here is what you should do when you move outside the EU, for example to the United Kingdom, or to EU territory but outside the EU fiscal territory, for example to the Canary Islands:

• Submit an export declaration on your removal goods.
• Enclose a general list of your removal goods with your export declaration (for example “one bed, a television set, 3 kg of clothes, dishes, books” etc.).
• Save the certification of exit and the MRN of the export declaration. You may need them if you move back to Finland.

Moving from Finland to another location in the EU territory

When you move from Finland to a location elsewhere in the EU territory, for example to Germany, you do not need to submit an export declaration to Finnish Customs.
