The transition period for Åland tax border declarations ends – VAT-registered companies must declare their goods in the Customs Clearance Service as of 1 September 2021
Goods transported across the tax border between the Åland Islands and mainland Finland must be presented and declared to Customs. As of 1 September 2021, customs declarations for the goods must be lodged electronically in the Customs Clearance Service or via message exchange. The declaration can be lodged either in advance or at the latest when the goods arrive across the tax border.
The procedure after the end of the transition period is described on the page about Åland tax border trade (in Finnish and Swedish), where you can find instructions e.g. on:
- VAT-registered importers and two-step declarations
- VAT-registered companies without a tax border number selling goods to private individuals
