EORI number needed when declaring imports
Customs increases checks relating to EORI numbers for import declarations from 2 September 2023. All import declarations must contain as identification the EORI number of the importer, i.e. the declarant as well as of a possible representative, if they are companies. If the identification number does not have EORI status, the import declaration is rejected.
According to the current legislation, a private person does not have to provide an EORI number. Please check for possible changes on our website.
Check if your business ID is an EORI number
The EORI number of a company located in Finland is made up of the country code FI + Business ID, e.g. FI1234567-8. Check if Customs already has registered your company’s business ID as an EORI number. You can check the validity of the company’s EORI number in the Commission’s EORI number validation service.
Apply for the number via Customs’ EORI number application service. Suomi.fi identification is used when logging in to the service.
