The Arrival and exit declaration service (AREX) and AREX messages will be taken out of use entirely on 31 December 2025

Arrival and exit declarations have been renewed during 2022–2025. During that period, the Arrival and exit declaration service (AREX) has gradually been used to a lesser degree. Use of the service online and of AREX messages will end entirely on 31 December 2025.

Declarations can only be submitted by message declarants under a transition period

Nowadays, all renewed arrival and exit declarations are submitted either through the Customs Clearance Service or the EU’s ICS2 declaration service for security data (STI-STP) or with corresponding messages. For the time being, it is possible to submit road and rail arrival declarations in the AREX system, as well as air, sea and rail exit declarations only in message format in cases where users have received a transition period from Customs.

In the future, even declarations cannot be browsed in AREX

Until the end of the year, you can still browse your own previous declarations in the Arrival and exit declaration service. After that, it will no longer be possible to log in to the service.
