Message declarant: There will be changes to certificate policies – check your server certificate now

Publication date 4.2.2026 12.23
Type:Press release

The Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV) has informed customers that there will be changes to DVV service certificates in March 2026 regarding the validity period of service certificates as well as the technical information on the certificates.

Validity period of TLS certificates to be reduced

The validity period of TLS certificates will be reduced in stages over the next few years. In March 2026, the validity period will be reduced to 200 days (around 6 months). In a few years, the validity period will be reduced to 47 days.

Check the validity period and, if necessary, apply for a new certificate

In message exchange with Customs, customers are authenticated using two-way SSL/TLS authentication with DVV server certificates. Check the validity period of your certificate and, if necessary, apply for a new certificate in time.

If your server certificate expires between 1 March and 1 June 2026, we recommend that you apply for a new certificate in February, that is, before the new certificates are introduced. If you apply for the certificate later and it is granted after 15 March 2026, it will only be valid for 6 months.
