Amending a declaration

The declarant can only correct details in the export declaration up until Customs has issued a decision on release for the export procedure.

The correction can be requested by Customs or by the declarant. The declarant must follow-up the requests for amendment and for additional information sent by Customs and correct the details affected by the inaccurate detail. A new export declaration cannot be submitted to replace an incorrect declaration without Customs’ permission.

If Customs notices that there are serious errors in the data, it rejects the declaration and notifies the declarant of this. The declarant must then send a new declaration with correct information.

If the customer notices any errors in the submitted export declaration after Customs has released the goods for the export procedure, an amendment request must be made. The declaration cannot be corrected after that.

Message declarants make the amendment request with the message FI513. In the message, “KOR” will be provided as the amendment type.

Amendment can’t be requested for all the details in the export declaration. If one of the following details is incorrect, the declaration must be invalidated. After this, a new export declaration with the correct details must be submitted.

The following details cannot be amended

  • MRN
  • declaration type
