Checklist
Print- Check where your order is delivered to you from, and if you should clear the goods through Customs.
- Make sure to keep the confirmation of order, invoice or receipt you receive from the seller – you will need such a document when you clear the goods.
- Posti or the carrier will notify you if the consignment needs to be cleared. The notification is often shown in the item tracking service. You may receive the notification as a OmaPosti message, an electronic notification, a text message or as a letter.
- You can clear your consignment online or buy the customs clearance as a service from Posti or the carrier in question. Very often, the notification of arrival contains instructions on purchasing the customs clearance.
- You must clear your consignment and pay customs duties within the given time limit. Otherwise, Posti/the freight carrier will return the consignment to the sender. The time limit is given by Posti or the freight carrier.
- If you clear your postal consignment yourself and the customs clearance works out so that Customs registers your payment, Posti will deliver the consignment to you and you can pick it up from a Posti parcel point.
- If you clear your freight consignment yourself, you should submit the release decision you have obtained from the Import Declaration Service to the freight carrier. The freight carrier can then deliver the consignment to you or you can pick it up from a location notified by the freight carrier.
