An EORI number is mandatory in export declarations

Publication date 10.5.2024 11.40
Press release

Customs increases checks relating to EORI numbers for export declarations from 25 May 2024. The EORI number of the exporter and possible representative, if they are companies, must be provided as identification number in all export declarations. If the identification number does not have EORI status, the export declaration is rejected.

Check your company’s EORI number

You can check the validity of your company’s EORI number from the Commission’s EORI number validation service. You can check a Finnish EORI number by entering the country code “FI” and your business ID in the search field. If your company’s EORI number is valid, you do not need to do anything.

How do I apply for an EORI number?

Finnish companies must apply for an EORI number through Customs online services. You log in to the service using Suomi.fi identification, and you will need the mandate code “Customs clearance” for using the service. Read more about identification and authorisations.
Companies based in other EU member states must apply for an EORI number from their own member state prior to starting export.
