Direct message exchange customer: make use of the fast message service for attachment files

Publication date 9.11.2018 8.30
Press release

In line with customers’ wishes, we have developed direct message exchange so that attachments required for import and export declarations can now be sent directly to Customs via the message service. This speeds up the processing of customs declarations significantly.

This means that you can send customs declaration attachments to Customs in three ways:

  • online, using Attachment Upload
  • in direct message exchange, using the attachment message service
  • as email attachments, only on request

As the implementation of the new customs clearance system progresses, the option of sending attachments by email will gradually be given up in message exchange.

Your customs declaration will be processed faster when you send your attachments together with your declaration

You should send your attachments to Customs using the attachment message service (not by email) at the same time with your actual declaration. For example, in situations where you know that the declaration involves authorisations or certificates that require measures by Customs, Customs can start processing your declaration immediately after receiving the declaration and attachments. If Customs needs to ask you to deliver attachments separately, your incomplete customs declaration is returned to the processing queue, and there will be a delay in processing the declaration.

Using the service requires certain software functions

In order for you to send attachments via the message exchange service, your company software must include the required functions. Service functionalities are tested exclusively by software suppliers. If your company is using tested software that complies with requirements, you can start sending attachments via the message exchange service right away.
