The Customs Laboratory in the Child Fair on 20 - 22 April

Publication date 2.5.2018 12.25
Press release

The Customs Laboratory participated in the Child Fair this year as exhibitor together with Customs Communications.

The aim was to tell visitors as well as operators in the branch about the role of Finnish Customs as an efficient supervisory authority for foodstuffs and consumer goods intended for children.

At our stand, there were activities for both grown-ups and children: under the guidance of Customs Laboratory experts, visitors could guess the names of various perishable goods, perform a nickel test and colour Customs-themed pictures and also learn more about Customs. We also displayed products from the various product groups supervised by Customs as well as examples of toys, sweets and children’s food found to be non-complying.

The Child Fair had more than 47 000 visitors this year. Our stand near the main aisle was very popular. Among the visitors, there were parents with children of various ages, importers of products intended for children as well as other people interested in Customs. Visitors asked questions about various topics, e.g. about the role of the Customs Laboratory in the supervision of imported goods as well as about customs duties and import restrictions.

What our experts remember best about the Child Fair is the children’s joy in trying the various activities as well as the positive interest and appreciation showed by the parents for the work of Customs.
