The Commission has published a new communication on Brexit preparations

Publication date 19.6.2019 13.37
Press release

On 12 June 2019, the Commission published its fifth communication on Brexit preparations.

Read the communication in English here.

The threat of a no-deal Brexit in October is real, and the communication repeats the most central EU and national level contingency measures. There will be no further EU contingency measures and the time from now to October should be used for finalising the existing contingency measures and maintaining preparedness.

Learn about the basics of customs clearance and prepare for Brexit - read the Brexit pages on the Customs website. In order to facilitate and expedite customs clearance, find out as soon as possible which authorisations your company might need. The application process may be several months long, depending on the type of authorisation. Customs Business Information provides free advice in identifying your authorisation needs. Customs declarations always require identification, which means that your company has to have an EORI number.  If your company does not yet have an EORI number or if the EORI number has been granted by the UK, apply for an EORI number now. EORI numbers granted by the United Kingdom will no longer be valid after Brexit.
