Change in security protocols for direct message exchange with Customs – the use of TLSv1.0/1.1 ends on 31 May 2021

Publication date 22.2.2021 8.59
Press release

The use of the security protocol TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1 for the encryption of data communications in direct message exchange with Finnish Customs ends in the production environment on 31 May 2021. In the future, the interface will only support the TLS 1.2 version. Customers who are already using version 1.2 can continue doing do without any changes.

Customers who are still using the TLS v1.0/1.1 encryption protocol in direct message exchange must ensure that their software is compatible with the new protocol. The new protocol must be tested independently in the customer testing environment of Finnish Customs.

As of 31 March 2021, version TLS 1.0/1.1 will no longer be supported in the direct message exchange interface of the Customs customer testing environment. However, Customs will temporarily provide a direct message exchange interface that supports the TLS 1.0/1.1 version under another address until 31 May 2021. This serves to ensure the continued customer testing of the new Customs Declaration Service.
