Statistics specification: International trade in goods according to types of enterprise proprietors
Title of statistics
International trade in goods according to types of enterprise proprietors
These international trade statistics describe trade of commodities between Finland and other EU Member States, and Finland and Third Countries, i.e. internal and external trade, according to the types of enterprise proprietors.
These statistics specify the annual values of import in and export from Finland according to the types of enterprise proprietors. The data is summed according to both industries and products by activities. Beside the statistical data by the types of enterprise proprietors, the development of international trade is also analyzed in words and graphs.
Data collecting method
Data on the trade by Finland with the other EU Member States are collected from the statistical declarations lodged by enterprises through the Intrastat system of internal trade. The information on the trade between Finland and Third Countries is obtained through customs declarations to be lodged on every import and export consignment. The data on internal and external trade are combined to form the International Trade Statistics of Finland.
The data on the types of enterprise proprietors have been obtained from the material of the Statistics Finland. This material is extended annually to the disposal of the Statistics of the Finnish Customs on the basis of a cooperation agreement.
The product classification applied in the statistics is the CPA product classification of the EU (Council Regulation, EEC, of 29 October 1993, No. 3969/93). The CPA classification describes the structure of export and import by product categories according to activities (Classification of Products by Activities CPA). Data complying with the CPA are deducted from the Combined Nomenclature CN.
The classification on industries applied in the statistics is the Nomenclature générale des Activités économiques dans les Communautés européennes (NACE 2002), the classification of the European Community. The NACE category title is chosen for an enterprise in accordance with its principal branch of industry.
The country classification is based on the Commission Regulation (EC, 1833/2006) on the country classification of the external trade of the Community and the internal trade between the Member States of the Community. The country codes comply with those of the ISO/DIS 3166 standard of the International Organization for Standardization.
