Exports increased by four per cent in November
According to the preliminary statistics of foreign trade of goods provided by Finnish Customs, the value of Finnish exports increased by four per cent and the value of imports increased by two per cent in November compared with the year before. The value of Finnish exports in November was 4.5 billion euros and the value of imports was slightly under 4.7 billion euros. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports have diminished by four per cent and imports have remained at the level of the previous year.
The trade balance showed a deficit of 150 million euros in November. Calculated from January to November there was a deficit of almost 2.3 billion euros. Under the same period the year before the balance of trade showed a deficit of 351 million euros. In 2015 the trade balance for November showed a deficit of 240 million euros.
Exports to EU member states remained at the level of the previous year in November and exports to non-EU countries increased by nine per cent. Imports from EU-countries decreased by four per cent while imports from non-EU countries rose by 12 per cent in November. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU decreased by three per cent and decreased to non-EU countries by five. During the same period imports from both EU member states and non-EU countries remained at the level of the previous year.
