Exports increased by five per cent in April
According to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs, both the value of Finnish exports and imports increased by five per cent in April year-on-year. The value of Finnish exports in April was slightly over 4.5 billion euros and the value of imports was almost 4.9 billion euros. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports increased by 15 per cent and imports by 13 per cent.
The trade balance showed a deficit of 325 million euros in April. Calculated from January to April, there was a deficit of 995 million euros. Under the same period last year, the balance of trade showed a deficit of 1,2 billion euros and the trade balance for April showed a deficit of 280 million euros.
Exports to EU member states increased by three per cent and exports to non-EU countries by six per cent in April. Imports from EU-countries decreased by one per cent while imports from non-EU countries rose by 16 per cent in April. Calculated from the beginning of the year, both exports to EU and to non-EU countries increased by 15 per cent. During the same period imports from EU member states increased by four per cent and from other countries by 27 per cent.
