Value of exports increased by 0.6 per cent in July
According to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs, the value of Finnish exports increased by 0.6 per cent and the value of imports by 1.5 per cent in July year-on-year. The value of Finnish exports in July was slightly over five billion euros and the value of imports was slightly under 5.5 billion euros. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports increased by 3.2 per cent year-on year, while imports decreased by 0.2 per cent.
The trade balance showed a deficit of 435 million euros in July. Calculated from January to July there was a deficit of 290 million euros. Under the same period last year the balance of trade showed a deficit of almost 1.6 billion euros. Last year the trade balance for July showed a deficit of 384 million euros.
Exports to EU member states decreased by 3.5 per cent in July while exports to non-EU countries increased by 6.2 per cent year-on-year. Imports from EU-countries rose by 2.2. per cent and imports from non-EU countries by 0.6 per cent in July. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU increased by 1.4 per cent and to non-EU countries by 5.9 per cent. During the same period, imports from EU member states rose by 0.7 per cent but decreased from other countries by 1.6 per cent.
The monthly preliminary statistics release contains preliminary overall figures about Finland's international trade in goods. More precise figures of exports and imports as well as detailed statistics about specific countries and goods will be published at the end of the month in the monthly statistical release.
