MIG goods classification
Main Industrial Groupings, MIG
MIG is a classification specified by the European Union (Commission Regulation (EC) No 656/2007) where various industries are aggregated according to the purposes of use of their products. The MIG classification shall be produced in accordance with the standard industrial classification NACE Rev. 2 from the year 2009 onwards. There isn't a MIG class for all NACE industries, so the MIG classification doesn't describe the structure and development of all import or export. Up until the year 2008, a national version based on the CPA classification was used.
Classifications based on products, industries, and uses of goods are regularly applied to describe the structure and development of import and export without specifying any countries. The data, however, are compiled also according to the countries. Statistics complying with these classifications indicate the values only.
