Sending a gift abroad by mail
You can find instructions on sending parcels abroad on Posti’s website. Furthermore, Posti’s website also has information on prohibited consignments and country-specific prohibitions and restrictions.
The sender is responsible for finding out about any export restrictions concerning the goods, and for checking any import restrictions effective in the country of destination e.g. from the embassy or authorities of that particular country. Finnish Customs does not provide information about the import restrictions of other countries.
Keep in mind also that many export restrictions concern goods to be sent as gift as well. Restricted goods include for example medicines that are classified as narcotics, goods made from endangered plants and animals, firearms and firearm supplies and cultural goods.
