How are tasks divided between Posti and Customs?

Posti transports postal consignments to be cleared through Customs, and sends the recipients notices regarding the arrival of a consignment.

Posti stores the parcels in a customs warehouse until they are cleared through Customs.

When customs clearance has been done and the required payments have been made, Posti transports the parcel to you.

Posti returns consignments that have not been cleared or retrieved.

The customs clearance is submitted to Customs and the import duties and taxes are paid. You can clear the goods and pay the import duties and taxes in Customs’ Import Declaration Service.

Customs does NOT transport or store consignments, submit notices of arrival or return consignments.
