How is the transit procedure discharged?

When the goods arrive in Åland, the transit documents must be presented to Customs. Customs discharges the transit. The goods can’t be unloaded until an unloading permit has been issued by Customs, except if the company has been granted an authorised consignee authorisation by Customs.

Outside the opening hours of Mariehamn Customs, an unloading permit can be requested by email at spake.passitus@tulli.fi.

2. Exporting goods from Åland to non-EU countries

When goods are transported from Åland to non-EU countries (to a third country), they are subject to the same regulations and instructions as trade between the EU and third countries.
