If the UK leaves the EU without an agreement, which would mean a “hard” Brexit, the UK becomes a so-called third country. This means significant changes in trade with the UK; after the UK withdraws from the EU, companies need to submit customs declarations and identify themselves with an EORI number for import and export transactions.

Read more about EORI numbers in our previous customer notice Brexit and the invalidation of EORI numbers granted by the United Kingdom.

Learn about the basics of customs clearance and prepare for Brexit - read the Brexit pages on the Customs website. When you keep track of our Brexit pages and order the customs clearance newsletter (in Finnish or Swedish) you will receive up-to-date information on the effects of Brexit on customs transactions.
