Press release

The maximum number of characters allowed in the free-form text fields in customs warehousing declarations will be limited to 500 characters for the time being. In addition, specifying the total gross mass in the message structure will become mandatory.

Free-form contact request regarding declaration amendments may, for the time being, contain no more than 500 characters. If an amendment request contains more than 500 characters, it will be rejected. If the amendment request contains more than 500 characters, you can submit an attached document to support it either via message exchange or Customs’ Attachment Upload Service, or you can submit the request with two free-form contact requests.

In addition, specifying the total gross mass in the customs warehousing declaration will be made a mandatory data element in the message structure.

The changes have been published in the message implementing guidelines for customs warehousing and will become effective on 15 October 2019.
