Press release

According to information from the Russian customs authorities, the customs office of Brusnichnoye will no longer be included in the list of TIR customs offices as of 22 January 2016 (Regulation No. 2568 of 14 December 2015 by the Federal Customs Service of Russia).

In practice, this means that TIR Carnet documents will no longer be processed at the Russian border crossing point opposite Nuijamaa as of 22 January. The customs offices nearest to Brusnichnoye that will continue processing TIR Carnet documents are Svetogorsk opposite Imatra and Torfyanovka opposite Vaalimaa.

Finnish Customs will allow transports of goods placed under the TIR procedure prior to 22 January 2016 to Nuijamaa, but cannot guarantee the access of such TIR transports to Russia. As of 22 January, Finnish Customs will not initiate TIR procedures for TIR transports destined for Russia in Nuijamaa, but will direct such TIR transports through the nearest border crossing points of Vaalimaa and Imatra.
