Exports increased by eight per cent in September
According to the preliminary international trade in goods statistics provided by Finnish Customs, the value of Finnish exports increased by eight per cent and the value of imports by 11 per cent in September year-on-year. The value of Finnish exports in September was almost five billion euros and the value of imports was slightly under 5.2 billion euros. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports have increased by 15 per cent and imports by 14 per cent.
The trade balance showed a deficit of 210 million euros in September. Calculated from January to September there was a deficit of almost 1.7 billion euros. Under the same period last year, the balance of trade showed a deficit of almost 2.1 billion euros. Last year the trade balance for September showed a deficit of 103 million euros.
Exports to EU member states increased by eight per cent in September and exports to non-EU countries by nine per cent. Imports from EU-countries increased by ten per cent and imports from non-EU countries by 12 per cent in September. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU member states increased by 17 per cent and to non-EU countries by 14. During the same period, imports from EU member states rose by nine per cent and from other countries by 21 per cent.
