Exports increased by 17 per cent in March
According to the preliminary statistics of international trade of goods provided by Finnish Customs, the value of Finnish exports increased by 17 per cent year-on-year and the value of imports by ten per cent in March compared with the year before. The value of Finnish exports in March was 5.2 billion euros and the value of imports was also 5.2 billion euros. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports have increased by 17 per cent and imports by 14 per cent.
The trade balance showed a deficit of ten million euros in March. Calculated from January to March there was a deficit of 715 million euros. Under the same period last year, the balance of trade showed a deficit of 905 million euros. Last year the trade balance for March showed a deficit of 290 million euros.
Exports to EU member states increased by 15 per cent in March and exports to non-EU countries by 20 per cent. Imports from EU-countries increased by four per cent and imports from non-EU countries by 20 per cent in March. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU countries increased by 16 per cent and to non-EU countries by 19 per cent. During the same period imports from EU member states rose by five per cent and from other countries by 30 per cent.
