Exports increased by 17 per cent in October
According to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs, the value of Finnish exports increased by 17 per cent and the value of imports by 13 per cent in October year-on-year. The value of Finnish exports in October was 5,3 billion euros and the value of imports was slightly over 5,4 billion euros. From January to October, exports have increased by 16 per cent and imports have increased by 14 per cent year-on-year.
The trade balance showed a deficit of 120 million euros in October. Calculated from January to October there was a deficit of 1.8 billion euros. Under the same period last year, the balance of trade showed a deficit of over 2,3 billion euros. Last year the trade balance for October had a deficit of 256 million euros.
Exports to EU member states increased by 22 per cent in October and exports to non-EU countries by ten per cent. Imports from EU-countries increased by 16 per cent and imports from non-EU countries by nine per cent in October. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU increased by 17 per cent and to non-EU countries by 13 per cent. During the same period imports from EU member states rose by ten per cent and from other countries by 20 per cent.
