INVITATION TO PRESS EVENT at Helsinki Airport on Tuesday 19 June from 11 a.m. till noon: European cooperation in customs dog activity - international exercise to take place in connection with the 2018 FIFA World Cup
In recent years, EU authorities have stepped up their cooperation involving customs dogs. In the context of the Customs 2020 programme, authorities have set up an EU K9 Unit Network for the purpose of information exchange, and for the practical development of dog activity. A joint customs dog exercise will take place in Finland between 18 June and 13 July 2018. The exercise is timed so that it focuses on flows of passengers and goods relating to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Dog teams from several EU Member States will take part in the exercise.
A media event will be held at Helsinki Airport on Tuesday 19 June 2018 from 11 a.m. till noon. The event will focus on the enhanced cooperation involving customs dogs in the context of the EU K9 Unit Network, and on the joint exercise. Present at the event will be Mr Mikko Grönberg, Director of Enforcement, Mr Kari Marjamäki, Head of Enforcement and Mr Mika Pitkäniemi, Head of Airport Customs. Attendants will have the possibility to interview dog trainers from various EU countries and to take a closer look at their work.
