Press release

Customs has introduced a new Intrastat service for companies to submit their statistical web declarations free of charge.

The new service makes it easy and fast for customers to submit declarations. The user interface is easy to operate, instructions are quickly available, and the service is free of charge. Customs has reacted to customer feedback and added valuable qualities to the service for better meeting the demands of businesses.

Positive feedback from customers

Intrastat declarations can be submitted manually via the service, or in CSV or ASCII format in large instalments. Mr Reijo Vainionpää of the company Chipsters Food Oy is one of the users of the new Intrastat Declaration Service. The company submits Intrastat declarations and downloads files when submitting declarations.

- The downloading option is very good, says Reijo Vainionpää. It makes the declaration process considerably easier and quicker than before in cases of large declaration volumes, and makes it possible to extract information from our company’s various IT systems for submitting declarations.

- The service is easy to use, as it guides the user in taking the right steps and in correcting errors. It is now also easier to find the right commodity code with the new service, says Vainionpää, who is happy with all aspects of the new system.

Customers can log in to the service with a Katso ID. When necessary, Intrastat customer service will help customers in completing their declarations.

What is an Intrastat declaration?

Companies that engage in internal EU trade and whose trade in goods with EU countries exceeds certain threshold values are obliged to submit monthly statistical information on trade between EU Member States to Finnish Customs. Customs notifies the companies concerned about the obligation to provide information.
