In August of this year, Customs at Helsinki-Vantaa airport seized a letter from Great Britain containing 900 LSD blotters. The preliminary investigation has revealed that the recipient of the narcotics consignment in question was a young man residing in the Helsinki region. The man had ordered LSD, Ecstasy and amphetamine on several occasions through the Tor-network. The earlier LSD consignments were smuggled from Great Britain in June and July as well as ecstasy from Holland in July. The amphetamine consignment arrived from Germany after the suspect was apprehended.

The preliminary investigation has also revealed that during the summer, the suspect has sold about 1 700 LSD blotters and 600 ecstasy tablets in small batches through his own business site on the Tor network. His customers were dozens of individuals throughout Finland. The drugs were mainly sent to the buyers by mail.

The ordering and selling of the drugs has been investigated as several aggravated narcotics offences. A total amount of 974 LSD blotters, 887 ecstasy tablets and 256 grams of amphetamine has been seized in connection to the investigation. The street market value of the seized narcotics would have been around 27 000 euros. In addition, the recovered proceeds of crime included cash and some 83 Bitcoins*. The seized bitcoins are worth around 17 000 euros.

The preliminary investigation is concluded and the matter has been assigned to the prosecutor’s office of Eastern Uusimaa for consideration of charges.
